Project Name: Wireless Project – Network Upgrade and Installation
Time scale: 60 Days
The University of Southampton is one of the UK’s leading research institutions and is in the top 1 per cent of Universities worldwide. There are currently in excess of 22,000 students on campus in the UK.
The University of Southampton selected Sceptre Networking to assist with the upgrade of their wireless service in the Hartley Library Building as part of a pilot scheme to demonstrate a valid process for design, installation and assurance of an upgraded wireless system.
Sceptre Networking successfully installed 264x CAT6a UTP Commscope data outlets across the 5 levels of the Hartley Library, all cables were routed back to existing communications cabinet on each floor. The installation was completed during active hours therefore a phased plan was put together by Sceptre and the Universities key stakeholders. Throughout the Installation Sceptre Engineers and Project Managers worked closely with the Universities Library and Management staff to ensure this plan was followed to minimise disruption caused to the Library users.
